The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is providing the following suggested resources and options for the National Week for Life and the Family, May 10-17, 2015. Each diocese in Canada will be deciding how it may wish to adapt or use these suggestions and options, depending on its specific needs, resources, and priorities.

The theme in English is "We're all connected" and in French "Réconcilions famille et travail". The English theme focus is on assisted suicide. The theme in French is linked to the Quebec provincial theme. Like last year, the dates for the National Week for Life and the Family coincide with those for the 2015 Semaine québécoise des familles, and also with the United Nations World Day of Families, May 15.

For this year's National Week, like last year and for the coming years, different dioceses have been involved in developing materials, one diocese from the French Sector and one from the English Sector. For 2015, the English-language materials have been prepared by the Archdiocese of Vancouver, and the French-language materials by the Archdiocese of Québec.

Resources from the Archdiocese of Vancouver:
A full-colour poster
A prayer card
A quick guide to the issues
A video, "Give us more time" (transcription in French available), with a postcard (in English or French) to the Government of Canada
An outline by the Catholic Organization for Life and Family of "Quick Answers to Common Arguments" on euthanasia and assisted suicide
An article by Advokate Life & Education Services, "The Truth about 'Medically Assisted Dying'"
A link to the Life-giving Love / Un amour qui donne vie campaign (in both English and French) by the Catholic Organization for Life and Family in cooperation with the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops
A collection of excerpts from Church documents and papal texts on euthanasia, suicide, and the Christian meaning of suffering, to assist you in preparing homilies
• Lists of possible speakers and other resources

As possible supplemental resources for the National Week for Life and the Family, the CCCB have posted, last year, a resource on the family rosary, written by the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau and CCCB President, and designed by Salt + Light Media Foundation. As well, additional materials on the family are available in preparation for the 2015 World Meeting of Families.

- "Brief Thoughts on the Family rosary"

- 2015 World Meeting of Families

Background information on the vision and purpose of the National Week for Life and the Family is available in a CCCB document entitled "Elements of a National Pastoral Initiative for Life and Family".

The colours of the web site represent the official heraldic insignia of Bishops. The green corresponds to the galero (ecclesiastical hat) and six tassels on each side that make up the crest and supporters of the coat of arms of each Bishop while the gold represents the processional cross.
