The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue has released its 2013 Message to Buddhists on the occasion of the feast of Vesakh on the theme “Christians and Buddhists: loving, defending and promoting human life”. This Buddhist holy day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha who, according to tradition, was born, achieved enlightenment, and died during the full moon of the month of May. This year, Vesakh (also spelled Vesak or Wesak in English) falls on 24 or 25 May, depending on the country where it is celebrated.

The colours of the web site represent the official heraldic insignia of Bishops. The green corresponds to the galero (ecclesiastical hat) and six tassels on each side that make up the crest and supporters of the coat of arms of each Bishop while the gold represents the processional cross.
